We should code diseases and conditions as well as symptoms whenever possible, and a Z code should also be utilized when appropriate, especially when it is related to failed screening or family hearing loss, as those are legitimate, medically necessary reasons for further hearing testing.     Below are some links to the three largest of audiology associations and the materials they have available on ICD-10. A number of trainings will be available through the national associations of which you are a member.
